Dominique Allard is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Art History. Her research is devoted to the study of visual models of knowledge derived from nature and found in contemporary art and the discourse of art history. She is also interested in the various strategies employed in historical reinterpretation and their heuristic functions, and has presented papers on this topic at the film and contemporary art summer school at the Sorbonne Nouvelle – Paris 3, at the Institut national d’histoire de l’art (INHA), Paris, 2010; and at the Universities Art Association of Canada (UAAC-AAUC) at the Banff Centre in 2013. She has been working as a research assistant in the academic community since 2008 and is a lecturer at the Université de Sherbrooke. She contributes to scientific publications and writes regularly on contemporary art for the magazines esse art + opinion and Espace art actuel. She is also a member of the editorial board of the magazine esse arts + opinions and holds a fellowship from the Fonds de recherche du Québec – Société et culture (FRQSC).
