Postdoctoral Fellowship in Heritage and Museum Studies

Geneviève Chevalier is an artist, independent curator and postdoctoral intern. Her postdoctoral research is supported by the Fonds de recherche du Québec – Société et culture (FRQSC). It is focused on the work of artists and independent curators who are invited by museums to refresh their collections in the context of the event imperative. Her Ph.D. dissertation in Art Theory and Practice at the Université du Québec à Montréal, for which she received the support of the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC), is devoted to the work of the curator within the context of the exhibition as an apparatus for public debate. A lecturer at the Université du Québec à Montréal and at the Université du Québec en Outaouais, Geneviève Chevalier has also taught at the Cégep Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu and held the position of joint curator at the Foreman Art Gallery of Bishop’s University in Sherbrooke, Québec. Her work as an artist and curator has been presented at various venues in Québec and Ontario as well as abroad.
