Marie-Ève Beaupré (2014-2016)

Curator of Contemporary Quebec and Canadian Art (from 1945 to the present)

 

From 2014 to 2016, Marie-Ève Beaupré held the position of Curator of Contemporary Quebec and Canadian Art (from 1945 to the present) at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts (MMFA). In 2015, she worked on the development of the exhibition Mathieu Beauséjour: The Shapes of Politics (2015-2016), which comprises an “infiltration” of his own works into exhibits designed to highlight the Museum’s collections. Ms. Beaupré also curated Her Story Today: Six Painters from Quebec and Canada (2015-2016) and Marion Wagschal: Portraits, Memories, Fables (2015), in addition to collaborating with Owen Kydd and Céleste Boursier-Mougenot. Over the past ten years, she has been Curator of Contemporary Art at the Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec and a member of the jury for the Sobey Art Award (2014), published over 45 texts on art and worked on close to ten publication projects. She is a member of the governing board of the Optica artists’ centre and the recipient of the Prix du commissaire de la relève, a prize awarded by the Association des galeries d’art contemporain. She has developed exhibitions for the Musée d’art contemporain de Montréal, the Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec, the Musée d’art de Joliette, the Mount Saint Vincent University Art Gallery (Halifax), the Agnes Etherington Art Centre (Kingston) and the Alberta College of Art and Design (Calgary). As a project manager for the Galerie de l’UQAM from 2004 to 2012, she has conducted inventories of the studios of Guido Molinari, Edmund Alleyn and Betty Goodwin, among others.
